Why I Love What I Do

I love helping people and seeing my expertise making a positive difference in a business.

​

I got into HR way back in 2001 because I wanted to help adults in the workplace do their roles to the best of their ability and have a great time at work. My career has led me to work in all areas of HR including Recruitment, Payroll, Pensions, Reporting, Change Management to dealing with difficult employees and resolving conflict.

​

I started my HR Consultancy when friends who had small businesses of their own needed my support when they wanted to sound me out on ideas for their business. During the pandemic I used the opportunity to grow my business, and continue to grow it based on the model of being a trusted Advisor to business owners who want what's best for their people.

I still have that desire today - to make workplaces better and for business owners to know that they are not only legally compliant, I've also saved them time, money and stress by helping them to make the changes that they need to in their business.

I take a commercial, pragmatic but also a human approach to dealing with people so you can get the best you can out of them, even in difficult situations.

​

A member of my HR Team said to me "you always do the right thing". And that's something I still benchmark myself against today. Whilst I will make sure that everything stays legal, I am also not one for red tape, so I will make sure things move for you as efficiently as possible.

How I've helped my clients:-

  • Run numerous large scale redundancy and restructuring programmes which have resulted in savings of £100K+ and protected businesses from successful legal cases.

  • Encouraged companies to change their handbooks so they are more human and less "finger pointing" and are actually useful to the workforce.

  • Succeeded in getting Companies to ditch the annual appraisal in favour of a more human, honest alternative.

  • Transformed nervous line managers into confident people leaders.

  • Coached MD's and CEO's to do "Forward Back Thinking" e.g. helping you plan 10 years ahead into the future and putting strategies in place to help you get there.

  • Implemented innovative IT solutions so HR processes become more automated and less time consuming, resulting in large savings for my clients in terms of time and money spent on manual processes.​

  • Put in place a group HR & Payroll System including self service roll out, all whilst doing the day job! Resulting in significant time and cost savings, and more accurate reporting.

  • Coached and supported managers through complex consultation processes to renegotiate terms and conditions of employment. Completed on time and on budget with no grievances or claims.

  • Expert in coaching managers through having protected conversations meaning a quick and easy exit for difficult employees and avoiding months of costly legal claims.

  • Advised and guided managers through TUPE processes, both in and out of an organisation, one of which resulted in a price reduction on the sale price in my client's favour because I resolved a complex issue around holiday pay.
