About me and Sure Betts HR

I got into HR way back in 2001 because I remember feeling frustrated that I wasn't being trained properly in the insurance job I was doing at the time. I know I didn't want to be a School Teacher but wanted to help adults in the workplace do their roles to the best of their ability.

Along the way I realised there was more to HR than just training and over the years I've done everything from Recruitment, Payroll, Pensions, Reporting, Change Management to dealing with difficult employees and resolving conflict.

I still have that desire today - to make workplaces better and for business owners to know that they are not only legally compliant, I've also saved them time, money and stress by helping them to make the changes that they need to in their business.

I take a commercial, pragmatic but also a human approach to dealing with people so you can get the best you can out of them, even in difficult situations.

A member of my HR Team said to me "you always do the right thing". And that's something I still benchmark myself against today. Whilst I will make sure that everything stays legal, I am also not one for red tape, so I will make sure things move for you as efficiently as possible.

I started my HR Consultancy by accident when my friend who ran her own hairdressing salon was taking on new staff and didn't know how to offer a job - I wrote her a script which she kept safe for years which helped her through various parts of the recruitment process. From there, it grew as I had other friends who had small businesses of their own who needed my support when they wanted to sound me out on ideas for their business. Some years on, I have helped many businesses make the changes that they've needed to and that's what I love doing and want to continue to do.

NEBOSH Level 3 (Health and Safety)
